Well tyred…

November 26, 2008

Having had the rear tyre punctured and replaced with a new Dunlop Qualifier RR the bike felt rather strange turning into corners: hesitant, as though front and back were not talking to each other. Only solution is to buy a fresh new Quali RR front tyre, which arrived yesterday. And wow – it actually feels almost sticky – should give excellent grip in the spring… Can’t wait!!

Ole Man Weller

November 26, 2008

Paul Weller at Brixton Academy last night. Storming performance – though most of the highlights were his early stuff: ‘Shout to the Top’ got the crowd jumping along with ‘Eton Rifles’ and the big finish with ‘Town called Malice’. Also included a nice cover of ‘Wishing on a Star’ and a powerful anti-war video backdrop to the last but one track, mixing harrowing imagery with quotes from Ghandi, Lennon, Martin Luther King and JFK.

VW TravelBug

November 23, 2008

We popped out to visit a nearby Geocache ‘Wolverton Railway Triangle’ (see http://www.geocaching.com) where we deposited the wonderfully named travel-bug “Doris the anti-cellulite fairy” which we had picked up a few weeks ago with Lucy and Bo. We picked up a VW keyring whose stated mission is ‘to travel the world being photographed with VWs. So far it seems to have been stuck in the UK so we will take on holiday with us and drop it in Hawaii or Australia… Lucky little thing!

It’s been cold…

November 21, 2008

Especially without central heating 😉
So we’ve been burning fossil fuels. Tut tut. Thankfully a new gas boiler is on the way and will be installed whilst we are on holiday. So the shock of returning to these shores should be lessened…!

Snow in St Albans!

November 21, 2008

Met up with Lee Yeap at a bar near St Pauls – a wet and windy Tuesday evening in London. Got off the train at St Albans about 9pm to find heavy snow…!
