Twenty-20 kick-off

May 25, 2009

A big summer of Cricket awaits with the T20 World Cup followed by the 2009 Ashes (C’mon England!!). The domestic T20 has also just kicked off and I went to Lords with Al and Brendan on Monday to watch Middlesex play Surrey. Middlesex old-boy Mark Ramprakash hit a classy 61 and Usman Afzaal a bludgeoning 98 not out to post a big total in bright sunshine. Middlesex lost early wickets and were never in the running sadly. So we went for a couple of beers and a steak in Marylebone 🙂

Ramp it Up!

May 23, 2009

I’ve been wanting to get the Nelli right through the garage and out onto the patio area in order to give it a good clean. This Saturday I went to our very handy local Hardware store to get some chipboard and plywood (for all of £3…!) to make some ramps to get the bike over the back door step. Took me a couple of hours to assemble the two ramps but it worked a treat. Maybe Dad and George’s carpentry genes are gradually being passed on to me after all?!

After a good clean and two coats of acrylic… 🙂

Guinness Night

May 20, 2009

Fredrik and Mikael are over from Sweden for the week so on Thursday we made the usual pilgrimage to The Toucan in Soho for London’s finest pint of Guinness. Then round to Pizza Express on the corner of Dean Street…

We’ve bought some Green Beans, lettuce, swiss chard and an aubergine from the local garden centre and started a little vegetable patch in the garden.
Also returned to Anson Road to pick up the jasmine and strawberry plants and found that one of the Clematis had burst into flower. And I road the Benelli back to it’s much more spacious new home… The red Honda is Trevor’s new VTR1000-SP1.

Campbell Cottage

May 10, 2009

We’re here! Saturday 9th of May after two trips in the bargain van (box-van with tail-lift: £68.75 for the weekend!) we had largely completed the move and retired to bed after a very welcome Pizza and beer/wine.
This morning we are sat in the beautiful garden in the sunshine having breakfast to the sound of bird-song and frog-croak. It is a lovely spot. Apart from the road noise 😉 But you can’t have everything!
We have to return to Wolverton today to fix up a few last things and pick up the bike, but looking forward to relaxing in the garden again later…
